Craft Intervention: Pattu Weaving Craft of Rajasthan
About Pattu:
The term Pattu is derived from the word Patti (narrow stripe of cloth). Majorly divided in 2 categories Bhojasari and Malani . Bhojasari Pattu is identified with a woven pallu. The body has motifs in triangular formation, coming together in the center. Malani on the other hand has all over ornamentation in the form of stripes. Fish motifs are used in pallu. Combination of stripes and motifs is seen in the body.
Pattu Weaving uses the technique of extra weft, wherein the weaver inserts different colors of weft in selected area to create motifs.
Materials used to make Pattu are wool and cotton, traditionally raw material was sourced then dyed but now already dyed materials are sourced.

Weaving is done on Pitloom. Reed, beater and cloth beam are also parts of the pitloom. The loom is called khaddi in local language.
